The kitchens of Gayana Eco Resort serve an array of culinary delicacies and all the dishes are prepared with locally available fresh produce. The dishes are designed to satisfy food aficionados as well as discerning connoisseurs of food. All meals are served at the villas for those who prefer to dine in the privacy of their villas. For others, there are many choice restaurants serving gourmet food, as detailed below.

Alu Alu Seafood

Just like the resort itself, the seafood restaurant Alu Alu also perches precariously above the water and offers beautiful views of the sea. It is one of the finest seafood restaurants in Sabah.

Alu Alu has its own organic fish farm from where fresh seafood is brought to meet the restaurant’s daily requirement. The owners are fully committed to the conservation of marine life and so Shark Fin Soup is an item that you will never find in the restaurant menu.

Macac Restaurant

Macac Restaurant is a poolside restaurant where the menu is a blend of Malaysian cuisine and western cuisine. It is open from the morning and serves breakfast and lunch and dinner.

The restaurant has developed its own special Asian dishes, and modified some of the western dishes to suit customer preferences.

Latitude Lounge

Latitude Lounge is ideal for relaxing after a fun day of activities. The guests are served here in a comfortable and plush setting, with good music in the background. The views of the ocean from the restaurant are excellent, and those go there before dark can have excellent sunset views as well. On Fridays there is a cocktail reception when traditional music is played.

Solace Spa

The services at the Solace Spa include traditional massages, aromatherapy, body scrubs, foot reflexology, modern day massages, and cosmetic procedures like facials.

The herbs used in aromatherapy are mostly collected from the neighboring jungles, and the massage therapists of the spa are people who are experts in the field.

The oils and cosmetic products used in massages are products of Kerstin Florian International, the well-known company that produces a range of spa products.

Since the spa is located in a place with beautiful views of the sea, spa treatments can be enjoyed while taking in the beauty of the nature as well.

PADI Dive Centre

Gayana's instructors and divemasters are at your disposal for information such as diving courses, snorkeling and diving trips to nearby islands.

The sea surrounding Gaya Island supports a rich marine life.

Divers with different levels of skills and experience can make use of the PADI Dive Center to explore and discover the marine life in their own way. Even divers with limited experience will be able to make use of the diving facility provided by PADI thanks to the well-trained diving instructors giving the divers all the help and care they need.

Even beginners can be given the necessary training at the center. The diving instructors teach at the resort diving pool before brining them to dive into the sea. Diving gear are provided.

Marine Ecology Research Centre

Nature conservation is the pet project of those who run Gayana Eco Resort. The Giant Clam Restocking Program organized by the resort has been able to save 7 species of giant clams which were on the verge of extinction. They are further committed to preventing the extinction of all marine animals which are under threat and all guests are allowed to actively participate in this conservation program. Guests may be able to see shoals of giant clams, whale sharks, sea turtles, etc. in the surrounding seas. There is a tank at the resort where bamboo sharks and seahorses live side by side. Besides saving giant clams, the resort is also engaged in a Reef Reclamation program. The program involves replanting corals to replenish their number.

Mother Nature has given her things in abundance to man. Nature’s resources are not inexhaustible, and it is our duty to return things to nature to maintain the equilibrium. The resort has undertaken a Marine Environment Education Program to create this awareness in the society and is committed to doing further work in the field.
